Visions of Goldberg offers a completely new, unique experience of Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations in a collaboration between The Hague String Trio and digital artist Lisette Huizenga.

Programme

Johann Sebastian Bach, arr. Dmitry Sitkovetsky Goldberg variaties

A surprising combination of visuals and music is brought about by means of a stop-motion animation film projected during the concert as a moving backdrop on a screen. A performance, inspired by and in harmony with Bach's music, with a nod to the work of Escher, a great admirer of Bach, will intrigue and captivate the audience.

In a world where everything seems to move quickly and information is expected to be short and bitesize, this performance provides a welcome contrast. A time-out during which the audience can sit back and immerse themselves in the beauty of music and art.

Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.  

Introductory talk by digital artist Lisette Huizinga
Prior to the concert, Lisette Huizenga will give an introductory talk about her creative processes and concept of setting 3D animation films to the music of Bach's Goldberg Variations. The animations are inspired by the music and the logic and structure through which Bach embedded hidden messages within the music. Come and listen so you can prepare yourself and appreciate and recognise even more during the performance of Visions of Goldberg.
