Interval

The kinetic installation Interval by the choreographer of OFFprojects, Amos Ben-Tal, and artist Gosse de Kort is on display on Kunstenplein on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 November. 

Gosse de Kort (1978) studied architecture at Delft University of Technology and ArtScience at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Starting from a fascination for spaces and how we use them, he creates moving installations that often invite visitors to move in or through them. The installation Interval was specially created for Amare.

Several times per day, the dancers of OFFprojects engage in a confrontation with Interval. That’s when Amos Ben-Tal’s entrancing vocabulary of motion and the fascinating installation really come into their own.

In a hypnotising spectacle, the dancers navigate a constantly shifting territory. The installation’s twelve arms create obstacles, but also new possibilities. How does the space affect the dancers, and how do the dancers affect the space, as well as each other? At what moments does symbiosis occur, and which circumstances lead to confrontation? How do we, as people, continuously navigate the balance between freedom of motion and responsibility in the spaces we share with other people?

OFFprojects

OFFprojects is een collectief van voormalige dansers van het NDT en Batsheva Ensemble, dat zich verzamelt rondom het werk van choreograaf en musicus Amos Ben-Tal. Het gezelschap staat bekend om zijn multidisciplinaire voorstellingen, waaronder Howl ism Spinvis (winnaar Dioraphte Dansprijs 2016).

Amos Ben-Tal begeeft zich graag buiten de gebaande paden. Hij laat dans op natuurlijke wijze samensmelten met andere disciplines als muziek, tekst en beeld. Bij Korzo Producties creëerde hij een aantal goed ontvangen dansstukken en in 2012 richtte hij OFFprojects op. 

Gosse de Kort
Gosse de Kort is een Nederlandse interdisciplinaire kunstenaar wiens werk zich op het snijpunt tussen beeldende kunst, technologie en architectuur bevindt. Zijn werk was onder meer te zien in het Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Nederlands Architectuur Instituut Rotterdam, Centre Pompidou Brussel en op het Cadance Festival.
