Anyone who looks at the career of this phenomenal multi-instrumentalist and singer will find a colorful collection of musical styles, influences and exciting collaborations. With his unique sound and voice, Bona interweaves his roots with jazz, pop and global music. That, combined with his extraordinary stage personality, has turned him into a staple name in the world of these musical genres.

Richard Bona grew up in Cameroon, where he started playing on the jazz stages of the capital Douala at an early age. Inspired by the music of Jaco Pastorius, he specialized as a bassist. He grew into a Grammy-winning musician, internationally renowned bass player, composer and multi-instrumentalist, who worked with many iconic artists from different musical backgrounds. Among them Salif Keita, Quincy Jones, Sting, Cesária Évora, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Stevie Wonder and Bobby McFerrin. Along the diverse notable collaborations Bona also devotes a large part of his time to teaching, coaching and guiding young talents.
