Recital Maria João Pires cancelled, Lucas and Arthur Jussen to replace
We regret to inform you that the duo recital of Maria João Pires with Ignasi Cambra on 4 February in Amare Den Haag has been cancelled for medical reasons. Maria João Pires has been strongly advised by her doctors to cancel her performances for the coming months in order to fully recover.
However, we are pleased to announce that Lucas and Arthur Jussen will provide a replacement concert. Ticket buyers have been informed by email.
Maria João Pires was looking forward to this duo tour with great pleasure and she is deeply saddened to have to cancel the concerts at such short notice. Team World Master Pianists wishes her beloved master pianist strength and a speedy recovery, that will hopefully lead to a reunion in a next season.
Together with Maria João Pires, World Master Pianists has decided not to cancel next February 4's recital but to present you with a special concert as a replacement. The now world-renowned piano duo Arthur and Lucas Jussen feel honoured to present a concert in homage to the Portuguese master pianist who was at the forefront of their stormy musical careers from early childhood. 'From Pires, we learnt the importance of breathing and never separating technique from musicality. We hope that when people hear us, they will recognise a little Maria João Pires in us.' -Lucas.
