The Hague Museum Night at Amare

During Museum Night on Saturday 8 October, we’ll be joining more than 30 of the city’s museums and cultural venues in opening our doors from 20.00 to 01.00 for an unforgettable evening. Come enjoy remarkable exhibitions, kinetic art, music, and of course a great party! Amare is focusing specifically on artists based in The Hague, in cooperation with Uit Het Gareel, OFF Projects and a range of local musicians. Discover Museum Night 2022 in in Amare!

Programme

Uit Het Gareel // pop-up exhibition (until Oct. 16th)
Uit Het Gareel (The Hague’s art platform for young and contemporary artists) will transform Amare’s lobby into the building’s throbbing cultural heart. You can enjoy an exhibition of The Hague art, curated by Julie de Ruijter and featuring, among others, Anna Nunes, Beer van Geer and Studio Poca.
OFFprojects // Interval, kinetic installation (until Oct. 11th)
In the kinetic installation Interval (OFFprojects/ Amos Ben-Tal), four dancers need to continually adjust their relations and intuitions to a constantly changing architectonic landscape. The performers and the space oscillate between symbiosis and confrontation, order and chaos. How do we reconcile our longing for freedom of movement with our need for empathy within a shared space?
On a musical journey with Aymar Torres
The Hague-based artist Aymar Torres is a cultural melting pot: an Aruban father and Colombian mother, born and raised on Aruba with a fondness for Latin music and in particular Brazilian bossa nova. Singing in Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French and Papiamento, a performance by Aymar is like a journey through the Caribbean and Latin America, with a few outings to the Mediterranean along the way.
Lisette & Gijs // Dutch-language easy listening music
Lisette & Gijs are an award-winning Dutch singer-songwriter duo that brings remedy in times of stress with their original Dutch pop songs. With poetic lyrics and dreamy guitar licks, they sing polyphonically about vulnerabilities that cannot be grasped or held, but that can be felt. This unique duo has a clear and raw sound, harmonious and pure, personal and direct. Authentic, light and in touch with the audience, they will take you on an inner musical adventure that moves, inspires and transforms. If the audience opens up, they are defenseless.

More about the pop-up exhibition

The theatre symbolises imagination and connection. It's a place for coming together, where dramatic drapes open a path to a new world. As the lines between reality and imagination blur, walls are broken down and spaces are created. These spaces nourish new ideas, fantasies and realities. The exhibition 'Alternative Realities' by Uit Het Gareel shows pieces by a diverse group of young artists. The pieces open a door to an alternative reality. From new perspectives and alternative conceptions of community to digitally altered realities and contemporary rituals. Stroll across Amare's Kunstenplein from Saturday 8 October to Sunday 16 October and take a dive into a world of pure imagination. 

Artists

Anna Nunes
Anna Nunes translates her experiences of living and working with indigenous communities in the West-African Boé region to her canvas. Her paintings showcase a world where caring for one another is a central tenet. Her work features a sense of intsense involvement with the world around us and the realisation that we're responsible for each other and function better when we work together.
Beer van Geer en Studio POCA
In their collaboration, Julie de Ruijter (Studio POCA) & Beer van Geer study the rythm of the human heart. The human heart rythm is unique and reflects our transformative nature; our emotions, feelings and our connection to our surroundings and natural rythms.
Celia Hadeler
Celia Hadeler explores contrasts in her work. She's fascinated by women and wrinkles and loves to combine both old and new techniques.
Darien Brito
Darien Brito (1987) is a creative coder and audio-visual artist. The works that he will showcase during Museumnacht are generative pieces produced through realtime coding.
Weronika Uyar
Weronika Uyar is a Polish-Turkish graphic designer that focuses on the following subjects: fluidity, phenomena, colours, illusions and dynamics. She works with a range of materials and prioritises the raw energy and appeal of colours.
Erik Peters
Interdisciplinary artist and designer Erik Peters uses collaborative worldbuilding and speculative storytelling to explore our possible future. He incorporates queerness and polyphony in his work whilst exploring new stories about the relation between man, nature and technology.

Visitors’ information

Tickets to the event are only available via the Museum Night website (Dutch: Museumnacht). Amare is one of the locations where you can exchange your ticket for a festival wristband. Check the FAQ on the Museumnacht website for further information. 

Good to know: the pop-up exhibition by Uit Het Gareel and the kinetic installation will temporarily remain in place. Both can be viewed free of charge throughout the following week.
