When it comes to Indian Sarangi, Lakha Khan is considered a true 'ustad'; an expert or real grandmaster in his profession. With a powerful voice that perfectly complements his instrument, he takes the listener into an enchanting mix of Indian folk and popular Hindi melodies.

In 2021, Lakha Khan received the Padma Shri - India's fourth highest civilian award for the arts - and with it his 'ustad' status. He is a living legend, a keeper of India's songbook, and perhaps the greatest Sindhi sarangi maestro.

The sarangi is a rare, indigenous string instrument that is traditional in North Indian folk music. The fretless instrument almost imitates the human voice, something that Ustad Lakha Khan plays on flawlessly with his soaring vocals and nuanced wordplay.
