In this explosive performance, choreographer Marco Gerris fuses breaking and urban sports with the circus discipline. A group of performers consisting of freerunners, spectacular hip hop dancers, B-Boys and acrobats explore the furthest reaches of the fundamental elements of water, fire, earth and air. They continually challenge one another while seeking a new equilibrium of calm, energy, space and power. The result is a hugely dynamic show in which the performers continually clash and challenge each other, to finally merge into a single whole. 

They are as quick as water, seem to float through the air, and always land with both feet on the ground. While the performers display the most incredible combinations of movements and disciplines, DJ Irie keeps fanning the flames with his solid beats. Sounds like an amazingly dynamic show that keeps you tumbling from one surprise to the next? Well that’s exactly what Hiphop Circus is all about.

Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.

The 2024 Olympic Games in France will mark the debut of 'breaking' as an Olympic sport: an athletic, competitive dance form that originated in hip hop culture, which will also be on display at Amare during the annual Breakin’ Convention.

Dance

The dance offering in Amare is versatile, colorful and startling. Not surprising when you consider that Amare comes from the Lucent Danstheater and Zuiderstrandtheater and has the Nederlands Dans Theater as its house company. Here is a selection from the rich dance programme.
