Since Hiromi’s debut album Another Mind (2003), the sound of this world-renowned pianist/composer has evolved with every release, erasing the lines between jazz and classical, composition and improvisation. Now she changes tack again with her heaviest, funkiest album yet: Sonicwonderland.

One of jazz piano’s most brazenly virtuosic players.

The New York Times

Born in Hamamatsu, Japan, Hiromi began piano lessons at the age of six. When she was seventeen, Chick Corea invited her to play with him at a concert in Tokyo. She was mentored by jazz legend Ahmad Jamal during her musical education.

On her new album Sonicwonderland (2023), Hiromi plays not only piano but also analog synthesizer and electric piano. This results in a collection of funky grooves with a nod to retro video game music. Expect an energetic show full of styles and different sounds, from a unique musician!
