In co-production with Amare, Forró Den Haag presents a cultural experience from the Northeast of Brazil! A program including a Forró dance workshop, a crash course for complete beginners, and a concert with a live band, followed by a vinyl DJ set.

Programme

Beginners crash course with Bruna Azevedo
The evening will start with a complete beginners crash course, led by Bruna Azevedo. In this 30 min introduction to Forró, you will be able to learn the basic steps allowing you to dance the night away. Bruna discovered her passion for Forró 8 years ago back in Brazil. She is a founding member and teacher of Forró Den Haag. She ensures her classes are not only fun but also deeply focused on the importance of offering a comfortable dance and a true connection—with your dance partner, the music, and the cultural aspects of Forró.

Concert with Ítalo Caramuru
Caramuru is a renowned  Forró singer and songwriter and is also a co-founder of the dance association Forró in Karlsruhe. Since 2012, he has toured Europe as a cultural ambassador for Brazil, sharing his vision through music and his album Revolution. Supporting Caramuru is Cainã Araújo, an accordionist, singer, and composer who began playing the accordion at nine. His 2018 album Estrada do Meu Peito ("Road of My Heart") was a breakthrough, leading to performances on stages across Europe.
Following the workshop, the band Caramuru will perform live, with Tau Macedo playing the zabumba, ensuring an unforgettable evening filled with the rhythms and energy of Brazilian music.

Vinyl set by DJ Miss Brown
Trish Preston, a.k.a DJ Miss Brown, is a professional dancer and has been spinning vinyls for over 20 years, blending her eclectic musical upbringing and experience from London's late 80s and early 90s underground club scene. She infuses her DJ sets with vibrant energy, often adding her funky Shakerine/Tambourine skills to the mix. Since 2021, DJ Miss Brown has embraced Forró, where she combines her passions for dance and DJing.

Complete your Forró experience with Tau Macedo's intermediate dance workshop

Tau Macedo, originally from Salvador, Brazil, is a devoted teacher with a distinctive style and foundation in Forró roots. He has developed a teaching approach that helps his students truly listen to the music and understand how its rhythms and melodies can be expressed through movement. He gently erases the boundaries between where music ends and dance begins. Tau now calls Berlin home, where he teaches locally and throughout Europe, sharing his passion for music as he tours with the Diego Oliveira Band and other musicians, and also as a DJ.
