Sun 13 Apr ’25

The Music Rooms are a legendary part of the BIG BANG Festival! This musical journey of discovery takes you to hidden rooms and exciting spaces in Amare, which people usually don’t get to visit. Wonderful surprises are guaranteed!

Programme

Discovery route A
Discover the studios of the Royal Conservatoire in three different Music Rooms. The precise locations remain a surprise.

Musicroom 1: Ranie Ribeiro
Ranie Ribeiro – formerly known under the DJ name D-Ribeiro – is establishing a name for himself as a harpist, composer and stage performer. In live performances at famous venues including Paradiso, Melkweg and De Doelen, Ribeire used his harp to experiment with hip hop, classical and electronic music to create a meditative, delicate sound.

Musicroom 2: Melissa Fortes with 'AMORDISIAC'
Melissa Fortes is a colourful, multidisciplinary artist who effortlessly blends traditional and contemporary music styles while singing in the languages of her ancestors. This music room presents fragments from her solo performance AMORDISIAC, which she crafted out of music and autobiographical stories about all-encompassing love.

Musicroom 3: Anne-Maartje Lemereis & Lize Bastiaens
Anne-Maartje Lemereis, Composer Laureate of the Netherlands, and Lize Bastiaens, the 11-year-old Youth Composer Laureate of the Netherlands, join forces to take you on a journey through the composer’s mind. Not only will they perform their own music for you, they will also help you create a brand-new mini composition as a soundtrack to an animated video about a fish!

Discovery route B
Go backstage at the Danstheater in three different Music Rooms. The precise locations remain a surprise.

Musicroom 1: Adison with 'Cave of Love'
Adison invites you into his Cave of Love, full of music, stories and interaction. What does he see? What does he listen to? What are his struggles? “My turntable spins. Sounds of the ocean flow from my speakers. I am carried on a sea of soundwaves, sitting in my cave, my pyramid. The place I had to return to, to find the long journey back to myself.”

Musicroom 2: Stephanie Pan with 'Our Lady of Late'
Our Lady of Late
bewitches and enthrals you with the magic of the human voice. It is an intimate, otherworldly duo between voice and wineglass. The performance contains original improvisations inspired by, as well as fragments from, Meredith Monk’s sixteen-part Our Lady of Late: a study into the use of the voice as a pure, primordial expressive instrument, stripped of the layers and conventions imposed by culture and society.

Musicroom 3: Jasna Velickovic with 'The Secret Sound of Magnets'
Come listen to the soundscape of magnetic fields, electromagnetic waves and interference. Toys and magnets are turned into individual personas of sound, and together they create an otherworldly atmosphere. Jasna is in love with sound, and merges that love with a life-long fascination for the space where music and technology intersect.

There are two routes: discovery route A & discovery route B. Each route consists of three different Music Rooms, all located in a different part of the building, and each hosting its own mini-concert. Visitors can buy a ticket per discovery route (for child and parent/carer).

Assembly point
The assembly point from where the two discovery routes begin is located at Park, on the first floor.
