The Hungarian composer György Kurtág has been described as a master of the miniature, and he certainly rises to that title in his Kafka Fragments. 

Programme

György Kurtág Kafka fragmente

This work consists of 40 short movements, many of them less than a minute long, written for one violin and a single soprano. The text consists of phrases plucked from the journals and letters of the brilliant Czech writer Franz Kafka.
