A wonderful balancing act between playful light-heartedness, tension, and flaming passion. The youthfulness of Schubert’s Third Symphony contrasts beautifully with Mayer and Brahms.

Programme

One Minute Symphony
Mayer Ouverture nr. 2
Schubert Symfonie nr. 3
Brahms Vioolconcert

This evening is devoted to three masterpieces that each have their very own style. The first is stately and tense, the second is playful and elegant, and the third is dramatic and masterly. Placing Mayer’s forlorn Ouverture and Schubert’s youthful and charming Third Symphony alongside Brahms’s profoundly emotional Violin Concerto guarantees a fascinating experience. All three are intimate and powerful in their own way, with lots of shifts in mood and energy.

Cloakroom and drink
Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.

With Amare’s principal guest conductor Richard Egarr wielding the baton, these are three masterpieces that embody the full range of classical music. Mayer’s stately Ouverture steadily builds up tension, with strong moods, interaction and powerful rhythms. Schubert’s Third Symphony, composed at the age of eighteen, sparkles with youthful energy and charm, and playfully alternates lightness and darkness. And then there is Brahms’s Violin Concerto, a technically demanding and emotionally profound work, written for his friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim. Artist-in-residence Bomsori Kim, internationally acclaimed for her virtuosity and expressiveness, brings this monumental piece to life.
