It’s the tried and trusted way to get the new year off to a dazzling start: the New Year’s Concert by the Residentie Orkest. This edition is dedicated to colour, virtuosity and French flair. Led by the charismatic Mei-Ann Chen, a conductor who embodies pure passion, this is an evening in which festive traditions and delicious music merge. It’s a true toast to a wonderful new year.

Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.  

The much-lauded trumpetist Selina Ott will showcase her breathtaking technique and youthful energy in Tomasi’s Trumpet Concerto – once considered unplayable, but now an established piece in 20th-century trumpet music. She will also shine in the playful Scherzo by Peskin: a rousing musical experience that very well suits the festive joy of the season. The programme furthermore features some of the most beautiful French compositions, ranging from the dreamy sounds of Debussy’s Claire de lune and the lively charm of Poulenc’s Les biches, to the dramatic grandeur of Berlioz’s Le carnaval romain and the unforgettable melodies of Bizet’s L’Arlésienne.
