Let yourself be overwhelmed by Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring: a revolutionary, rhythmic composition that sparked the biggest riot in classical music history.

Programme

Jeths Pianoconcert (wereldpremière)
Stravinsky Le Sacre du printemps

For a greater sound and a deeper experience, come to RO NOW, where the Residentie Orkest offers a short but powerful immersion in the most amazing symphonic music. With the help of the orchestra, presenter Christiaan Kuyvenhoven begins by offering a few stimulating examples and explanations to give you some insight into the unique compositions about to be performed. As for the concert itself: expect music that will surprise, touch and enthral you. Stick around in the lobby afterwards, where live music, a refreshment on the house and a convivial atmosphere complete the evening.

Cloakroom and drink
Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.

The Rite of Spring (or Le Sacre du printemps in the original French) was written for the Ballets Russes, and it is undoubtedly Igor Stravinsky’s most famous work, due in no small part to the fact that the premiere of this ballet is remembered as the biggest riot in classical music history. This revolutionary, rhythmic composition positively scintillates on the stage – it is a real must-see-live experience, augmented tonight by the world premiere of Willem Jeths’s Piano Concerto. This native Dutch avant-gardist and storyteller’s compositions are rich in contrast and contain unexpected, almost surreal elements at times. A perfect combination, and a real treat for your weekend.
