Holland Festival back in The Hague for the 1st time in 35 years

For the first time in 35 years, the Holland Festival will be back in The Hague on June 25 and 26 2025. Amare will present Star Returning by visionary Samoan theatre maker Lemi Ponifasio. The timeless stories of the Chinese Yi people come to life in Ponifasio’s characteristically stylised, music theatre language. 

The Holland Festival’s focus this year is on dance, movement, fluidity and the body as a means of artistic expression. When does movement become dance? What is the guiding, inspiring  mechanism behind it? Artists challenge the notion of the perfect (dancing) body in various ways, and counter it with radical expression.

Tickets for Star Returning will be on sale starting 1 April

New Pina Bausch adaptation, exclusively in Amare

Kontakthof - Echoes of ’78 is a new work by dancer and choreographer Meryl Tankard. It is based on Pina Bausch’s legendary Kontakthof from 1978. Now, 45 years later, Tankard has created a new interpretation of the piece featuring part of the original cast from 1978.
