Ease into your Sunday morning, with a mind invigorated by sparkling music. In this edition: Dvořák, Kabalevsky and a world-class soloist.

Programme

Kabalevski Celloconcert nr. 2
Dvořák Symfonie nr. 8

Join the Residentie Orkest to discover the magic of Sunday morning: a time to escape from it all, relax and let the symphonies caress your mind. This morning, you will feel the sun on your face as you travel from the Bohemian countryside to a merry ball, where the violins carouse, the timpani thunder, and the cello brings to bear its flamboyant charm with a challenging wink to the orchestra and audience in equal measure.

Cloakroom and drink
Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.

The Residentie Orkest’s former artist-in-residence (2018-2019), star cellist Kian Soltani, invokes even greater flights of the imagination with Dmitri Kabalevsky's masterful Cello Concerto No. 2. This unique piece, rooted in neo-classicist Soviet traditions, presents the cello as a bold hero who must navigate a series of challenges, alternately supported and contradicted by the orchestra. You can feel the adrenaline, the fighting spirit, the excitement of the adventure. Its folk music influences are in good hands with returning conductor Valentina Peleggi, who is also bringing her personal drive and expressiveness to The Hague.

Musical workshop for children
Tip! A special musical workshop for children aged 4 to 12 will be held during the concert, for a fee of € 4.00 per child. Please note that reservations in advance are required! The workshop is given in Dutch. You can order the workshop in the ordering process for the concert tickets.
