Programme

Skrjabin Rêverie
De Graaff Concerto Metropolitain (wereldpremière)
Sibelius Symfonie nr. 5

RO NOW is here to brighten your weekend! Treat yourself to top musical pieces that will stimulate your ears, starting with a clarifying introduction by presentator Christiaan Kuyvenhoven that the orchestra illustrates with various examples to help you feel and experience the music more profoundly during the performance. In this edition, the Residentie Orkest is offering poetic versatility with Scriabin’s Rêverie, Sibelius’s iconic Symphony No. 5 and the world premiere of Jan-Peter de Graaff’s Concerto Métropolitain

Cloakroom and drink
Cloakroom and an intermission drink are included. If the event does not have an intermission, you will receive the drink afterwards.

The night opens with a musical rendition of a dream: in Rêverie, Scriabin sets the orchestra to singing, whispering and sparkling with the greatest poignancy. Next is the world premiere of De Graaff’s Concerto Métropolitain. As a composer, De Graaff imbues his music with a powerful sense of physicality, and in this composition, a young and dynamic saxophone quartet from Amsterdam joins forces with the orchestra to evoke a sparkling world of sound. Finally, the audience will be treated to one of Sibelius’s most spectacular symphonic pieces: Symphony No. 5, an ode to life and beauty after hardship.
