After a career of over 45 years, gold records for the album with the unforgettable song 7 seconds and several prestigious awards, Youssou N’Dour is one of the most famous African artists of recent years. He hasa voice so extraordinary that the history of Africa seems locked inside it. N’Dour combines his Senegalese roots with European influences, which results in a sound that is contagiously exciting and unique.

Youssou N'Dour was born in 1959 in a deprived neighbourhood in Dakar, the capital of the African Senegal. His mother taught him the basics of local music such as tasso (African rap) and bakou (traditional Senegalese singing) at a young age. She herself was a so-called 'griot', a West African poet or singer who is considered the keeper and narrator of traditions and history. N'Dour is inspired by these griot stories in his music.

The brand new album Eclairer le monde (light the world) is a true musical tour de force, in which the sound of each instrument has been carefully studied and used in the most modern way. Instruments such as the kora, flute, sokou, ngoni, percussion and balafons are featured on the album that celebrates love and friendship under its veins.
