Programme

Mendelssohn Symfonie nr. 1
Ravel Pianoconcert in G

Enjoy an enthralling start to your Sunday with the Residentie Orkest, conducted by Otto Tausk. This concert combines Mendelssohn’s playful inventiveness with Ravel’s sultry and dynamic piano, creating a both surprising and touching programme. Join us for this inspiring morning where tradition and renewal go hand in hand.

You will hear Mendelssohn’s First Symphony, an audacious piece of work for a fifteen-year-old composer, in which his unique musical voice is already apparent. Written for his sister Fanny’s birthday, it pulsates with youthful energy and hints at the romantic grandeur that would later to come define Mendelssohn’s work. The Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova – lauded for her profound expressiveness, also by her millions of followers on YouTube – will bring Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G to life. With dashes of jazz and rich colours, this composition stands out for its refinement and virtuosity, and is a true testament to Ravel’s passion for rhythm and sound.
