Embrace the tranquillity of music. The Residentie Orkest presents two wonderful masterpieces to get your Sunday morning off to a relaxing, inspiring start.

Programme

Chopin Pianoconcert nr. 2
Sibelius Symfonie nr. 1

Start your Sunday morning with two masterpieces that transport you to a world of rest and reflection. Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.2 opens with dreamy melodies and lyrical beauty, conjured by a young composer gifted with the ability to capture his deepest feelings in music. The piano part is exquisite and virtuoso, and is supported by a subtle orchestral accompaniment that wraps the listener in a warm world of sound.

Following this is Sibelius’s Symphony No.1. Grand and cinematic, with sumptuous strings and a boisterous brass section, this symphony builds further on Tchaikovsky’s introspective style. The Finnish composer unfurls slow, robust tones into a powerful, dramatic finish. This concert is headed by Elena Schwarz, a uniquely precise and delicate conductor, while the grand piano is manned by Nelson Goerner, an internationally celebrated pianist. You couldn’t wish for a more inspiring Sunday morning!
