International Day of Peace

Reflect on peace in Amare on 21 September

How can you make a difference and contribute to Peace? On the International Day of Peace on 21 September, we will pay attention to this question with a special and free programme in Amare. With movement theatre, exhibitions, workshops, a peace dinner and more.

The Day of Peace is an international day on which we reflect on peace worldwide. And even more so in The Hague, the city that has been our city of peace and justice for 125 years! This year we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the first Hague Peace Conference in 1899.

Amare is a place to celebrate and commemorate. We like to reflect on important moments and events. We do this with music and dance, and other art forms that do not necessarily require words and that connect us with each other. On 21 September, we draw special attention to the importance of children's rights in war and a safe haven for children who grow up in war zones.

Growing up in peace, growing up in safety, is important to all children. Children who live in a war zone do not grow up in peace. It is not always safe for them. What do safe places mean in these troubled times? We investigate this theme with the international theatre performance From Here On, which will mark the start of the International Day of Peace in Amare.
