Their music blends native American music from the south of South America with experimental and progressive sound, using elements from folk, jazz and contemporary academic music. They have played in some of the main festivals and venues from their homeland Chile, North America and Europe.

With a career of more than 30 years and 21 released albums, the Subhira Quintet is one of the main World Music bands from Chile. 

Their director and composer, Subhira, Rodrigo Cepeda, is a 'President of the Republic National Prize of Music' winner, one of the highest recognitions given by the Chilean Ministry of Culture. He is also professor of composition at the Modern School of Music and director of world music label Mundovivo.
